Moving to a New State

In a time when it was difficult to say goodbye, the transition of moving to a new state needed to be as smooth as possible.

The mother/wife of a family I knew had recently been diagnosed with cancer. If you have ever been diagnosed or know someone who has, you know the timing is never good. They just finished building her dream pool, which she thankfully had been able to enjoy with her many family and friends for a while before the news. Unfortunately, the cancer did not react well to the her treatments. She soon passed, and it was a great loss to all of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

After a few years, they asked me to help them sell the family home.

The remaining family members were moving to a new state, which is where their mother/wife had wanted to move. It was a time of big transition for them, and they did not want to be around during the sale. I told them to go, and I would take care of the rest. The remaining family members said goodbye to the home and left for their new life closer to the beautiful mountains and the Denver Broncos, her favorite football team.

We called in the troops to get the house ready to hit the market. The house was cleaned, trees trimmed, light bulbs replaced, refrigerator repaired, along with other preparatory steps. I helped manage all of the work that needed to be done. We wanted to make sure this home would be ready for the buyer that would carry on the legacy of enjoyment. The home may have been vacant, but we knew it would soon be filled with new occupants who would love it as much as the sellers had. After about two months on the market, the right buyers came along. (This was before the 2020 market.)

After negotiations and getting final steps lined up, it was time to sign the final paperwork. We arranged for a mobile notary to meet the seller at a convenient location in their new home state. They had moved away from the house they had called home for so long, but they took their memories with them. I also know she is with them, watching over them and probably watching the Denver Broncos.
